Gratitude

Spending time with family and loved ones around the holidays brings out a lot of emotions and feelings. These emotions can be hard to deal with for some. My journey of wellness always brings me back to the positive thoughts and the feeling of gratitude.  This is a hard thing to always keep in perspective, but when you do affirm the positive things in your life you will watch them expand.

I’m a big believer in positive thinking and I know it has carried me to where I am in my life. Not just seeing the positive side of things, but truly being grateful for the people and things in my life. Looking at life with ungrateful eyes will affect everything negatively. Not just your attitude, but it will show in your life in many ways including health, body posture, mentality, gestures, and expressions. Gratitude can simply start with just naming the things you are grateful for. Instead of saying all the things that are wrong with you and your life, try to list all of the things that are good.

What are you grateful for? Try listing them in 3 different sections – People, Places, and Things. Loved ones, family members, friends, home, work, car, health, etc. Then expand. Expand your health, it can be the ability to smell, taste, move, be active, to talk, eat, read, disease free, cancer free, etc. You will be amazed of how much you have in your life that you are truly thankful for. Gratitude can change your entire being and your entire life.

Try sincere gratitude for an hour, a day, a week, a month. Don’t just go through the motions, make a conscious decision to be more grateful and express your gratitude. See how it can change you and your life!
